Chief of Police and Director of Technology Introduced at Board Meeting

The Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees held a regular meeting on Monday, July 16, where they welcomed two new leaders and conducted district business. A summary of those events is as follows:

New Chief Hired to Launch District Police Department

Chief Chavela Hampton Chavela Hampton joins the Duncanville ISD family as the new Chief of Police after being approved by the Board of Trustees at Monday’s regular board meeting. Chief Hampton’s first order of business will be developing a school district police department. Historically, the school district has contracted with outside law enforcement agencies to hire school resource officers but is now transitioning to its own police department.

Chief Hampton brings more than 27 years of experience in law enforcement and most recently as a Deputy Chief in the Arlington Police Department (TX). During her time in Arlington, Chief Hampton supervised large-scale events at AT&T Stadium, managed the tactical unit, jail operations, patrol divisions and also spent time as a school resource officer and sergeant.

“I'm excited to be the Chief of Police for Duncanville ISD.  Becoming a part of Duncanville ISD is very uplifting and exciting for me.  Everyone is so welcoming and it makes me feel right at home,” said Chief Hampton. “Through collaboration and teamwork, we will build one of the safest learning environments where Champions can thrive.”

She has a Master of Science in Human Relations and Business and a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration/Computer Science.

Chief Hampton is scheduled to begin her new role in Duncanville ISD next month.
